TAU: Combatting Corona on all Fronts
In this critical time, Tel Aviv University’s change-makers are at the frontlines of national and international efforts to understand, contain and fight the Coronavirus pandemic.
Scientific Research: Five expert scientific teams are working feverishly to better understand the virus and swiftly develop candidates for vaccines and treatments.
Better Testing: TAU plans to build a dedicated lab to dramatically increase the number of Corona tests being processed in Israel – a critical step in conquering the disease.
Artificial Intelligence: TAU faculty are applying AI techniques to Health Ministry data to improve quarantining efforts and contain the disease.
Virtual Big Ideas: TAU was among the first higher education institutions to transfer all courses online when the pandemic broke. We're determined to save the winter semester for our 30,000 students using distance learning.
Student Welfare: Mass job layoffs and physical and emotional distress are affecting our students acutely, especially those from the weakest sectors of society. We are working to provide support services to all and emergency grants to students who need them most.
Public Education: TAU experts are appearing in the media and other platforms to provide critical information about the medical, legal and social ramifications of the pandemic.
Social Responsibility: TAU joined a nationwide initiative to send hundreds of students to collect and process test samples, a much-needed relief to overburdened medical staff.
